When traveling along the beautiful winding coast of California, make a stop at A Taste of Monterey for wine and savory tapas. Husband and wife Owners Ken and Robyn Rauh opened for business in 1994, creating only the second wine tasting room in the area. This special space is situated on the second floor of the historic 700 Canning Company building. Situated alongside the bay, enjoy the dining roomís world class views of the water while sampling the finest wines and artisan foods Monterey has to offer. Before sustainability was a trending theme amongst restaurants, the mission of A Taste of Monterey had always been to promote local business and agriculture. In the early 90ís, Monterey supplied grapes to many of the wineries in California, but there were no tasting rooms in the city itself. Ken and Robyn set to essentially create a flagship tasting room, where people could discover and learn about Montereyís wine country. A Taste of Monterey introduced their bistro menu in 2013. The menu features artisanal cuisine with a variety of ingredients, like asparagus and artichokes, that are grown in Monterey. Taste fresh fish from the bay highlighted in dishes like the Hot Crab Dip and Shrimp and Grits. The dishes utilize inventive ingredients, such as Goat for Nachos and and specialty flatbread pizzas, all designed to perfectly pair with the wonderful Monterey wines and beers you can try here. In 2004, Sunset Magazine named A Taste of Monterey one their top 10 coastal destinations to visit. On your way in or out, be sure to visit the shop where you can buy wine, small treats, and goodies only found in Monterey. The restaurant boasts a perfect setting for a romantic date or group get together. You may walk in for seating or call to reserve private or semi-private seating for groups. The stunning views and exceptional food and beverage menu make A Taste of Monterey a prime dining destination for travelers and locals alike. Be sure to visit – you wonít be disappointed!
