Akira is located at 1222 Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz. The award winning restaurant is owned by partners Dustin Murata, Grayson Lanzarotta-Leek, and Louis Martinez. The owners met while working together in another sushi restaurant. With over thirty years of combined experience, they banded together to open their own catering business. Customer response was so positive it necessitated finding a physical location. Opened in 2012, Akira tries to cater to the local community. The cool works of art on the wall are all composed by area artists. Akira features two happy hours every day. From 4PM to 6PM and 9:30PM to 10:30PM, featuring appetizer and drink specials.
