Back to the 50ís Diner is located at 800 Edison Furlong Road in Furlong, Pennsylvania. Owner Claudine Schuster opened the restaurant over 20 years ago. She tells us she is a foodie at heart. She loves serving, preparing, and creating food. The theme of the diner pays homage to the era her family emigrated from Belgium. Claudineís mother had always wanted a restaurant. Claudine says she started the restaurant for her mom, who recently retired from managing the diner. Claudine enjoys meeting people on a daily basis and considers her customers extended family. She has seen diners who came in with their parents as teenagers return to the diner with their own children. Back to the 50ís Diner serves breakfast and lunch all day. All the dishes presented in the restaurant are homemade from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Daily specials include items such as organic omelettes and the Raspberry Bread French Toast stuffed with pineapple coconut cream cheese. Other breakfast items include pancakes and waffles. Popular lunch items include a wide selection of burgers with your choice of toppings. The Reuben Sandwich with grilled corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing is a favorite of regular diners. The staff at Back to the 50ís Diner cheerfully cater to special requests. If you feel like a Reuben with turkey instead of corned beef, just ask. They are happy to accommodate. The ambiance of the restaurant harkens back to a simpler time, when families enjoyed meals together, without being interrupted by chirping electronic devices. This is a place where you can get real ice cream and a real malted milkshake. If you are in and around Furlong, do yourself a favor and visit Back to the 50ís Diner. Claudine and her wonderful and attentive staff will ensure you have a wonderful dining experience.
