Bair’s Fried Chicken, York PA | Merchant Profile

Bairís Fried Chicken is a family run business. It was started in the 1980s by the Bair family who ran the business until selling it to Annette and Lance Fisher in 2007. Annette had taken some time off from her career as a paralegal and had helped friends run another eatery in the Central Market House. She was getting ready to return fulltime to the workforce, when she heard Bairís Fried Chicken was for sale. The Fishers have stayed true to the Bairís tradition of featuring fresh, never frozen chicken and providing tasty scratch made sides. A favorite menu item are the Bairís Chicken Strips. Made from the tenderloin of the chicken and breaded with plain or spicy breading. Anette takes great pride in the fact that they only use the finest and freshest ingredients to produce popular menu items like the classic Chicken and Waffles: Belgian style Waffles topped with chicken strips and smothered in butter and delicious maple syrup and Bair’s Spicy Chicken Wrap made with a jalapeno cheddar cheese wrap filled with spicy chicken strips, lettuce, shredded cheddar, and your choice of ranch or bleu cheese dressing. Popular side dishes include Dutch potatoes, coleslaw, corn bread with butter and the very popular and tasty homemade baked macaroni and cheese. Other popular items include salads and poíboys. You can order chicken by the piece or in a variety of family meal deals with three sides. The restaurant also does catering.Annette says the best part of her job is getting to know her customers and the fact she loves to cook. She has many regulars who have become friends and she enjoys watching families expand and grow up. Her husband Lance helps out part-time as do their two children. It is especially gratifying that she is carrying on a beloved tradition.
