Rick Bates, one of the current owners of Baja Cantina, began working in restaurants when he was 10 years old. His parents were in the nightclub and bar industry, so Rick got an early start to the family business. Rick eventually became the food and beverage manager for two large hotels in Miami Beach. He got out of the restaurant business for about 20 years, then decided to jump back in when Baja Cantina became available. The previous owners had a bit of a falling out, so Rick came in and rebuilt everything. Rick will be celebrating his second anniversary with Baja Cantina on March 18th, but the restaurant has been around for 22 years. Rick changed many things for the better, including the quality of ingredients used in their dishes. Baja Cantinaís fajitas are by far the best in town – they use top-quality fillet, instead of sirloin or rib-eye. This meat has more juice and flavor, ensuring delicious fajitas. Their ëPork Carnitasí are also popular, along with the ëMango Chicken Tacosí and ëShrimp Mango Tacosí. Baja Cantina is famous for their delicious margaritas. Rick explained they put tequila in the mix in addition to the shot of liquor. Strong and refreshing, exactly the way margaritas should be. Let Baja Cantina cater your next event and spice up your party with authentic Mexican flavors.
