Barberet Bistro & Bakery is located at 26 East King Street in Lancaster. Owner and Chef, Cedric Barberet, has over 25 years of professional pastry experience. He grew up in the business, first working in his familyís bakery in Villefranche-sur-SaÙne, France. He went on to earn a Masterís Degree in Pastry from Patisserie Chereau in France. Chefís experience includes a position as Executive Pastry Chef at the prestigious Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida. He has also worked at the Las Vegas M Resort Casino & Spa with Executive Pastry Chef Jean Claude Canestrier. In 2009, Chef Cedric also joined the prestigious team at Philadelphiaís Le Bec-Fin as the Executive Pastry Chef and most recently served as the Executive Pastry Chef for Buddakan. He was also recently recognized as one of the top 10 Pastry Chefs in America by Dessert Professional Magazine. Cedric tells us the most rewarding part of his job is seeing customers smile like kids in a candy store upon seeing his creations. Cedric tells us the most popular bakery item in the shop are macaroons or in French, Les Macarons Parisiens. Featured flavors include: raspberry, lemon, coffee, pralinÈ, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, apricot toasted almond, and blackberry-violet. Chocolate pastries are also very popular. As one would expect, everything in the restaurant is made from scratch. Other favorite bakery items include; Croissants, 7 Layer Flourless Chocolate Cake, the Napoleon, and Carrot Cake. The Bistro Menu features appetizers such as Beef Tartare with Cornichon, Dijon, Quail Egg, and Pommes Frites. Additionally, Crab Cakes made with Lump Crab, Savoy Cabbage, Dijon Mustard, and Tomato. Finally, Terrine de Foie Gras with Toasted Brioche and House Jam.Popular dinner items include the Bouillabaisse, not listed on the menu. This special fish stew features a saffron broth. Other favorites include a traditional Boeuf Bourguignon, a braised beef stew, lardon, and petits lÈgumes.
