Marty, Benno, and their mother Monica were business partners and opened Bennoís in 1980. Bennoís moved to their current location in 1989 when they realized they needed more space. Benno started vending at State Fair Park in the mid-80’s. In 1991, Marty and Benno split their business venture; Benno continued to vend at the park and Marty and his wife ran the restaurant. They are all very involved in the community. From the beginning, Bennoís always offered a good selection of draft beers and a delicious Friday Fish Fry. They have always been the best place on their side of town to get microbrews and craft beers. Aside from their well-curated 40 tap beer list, Bennoís carries about 120 different brands of liquor. When visiting Bennoís, you have to check out their mozzarella sticks and cheese curds. They hand batter and hand roll the Wisconsin cheese creating their delicious and famous taste. Come in on a Friday for the Fish Fry; lake perch from Lake Erie and North Pacific Alaskan caught cod are perfectly breaded and fried. To finish off your meal, order the cheesecake or carrot cake, both hand crafted by Martyís dad. Bennoís opens at 4:00 pm six nights a week, and are closed Sundays and holidays. Bennoís is one of the only restaurants in Milwaukee with the same owner and operator for over 35 years.
