Bogartíz Food & Spirits first opened in 2005 and was owned by Gary Van Biervliet. Garyís son Jason began helping out at the restaurant and found his real passion in the kitchen. Jason continued to work more and more in the kitchen that he ended up quitting his second job to work at the restaurant fulltime. After seeing his son dedicate so much time and effort to improving Bogartíz, Gary then presented the opportunity for Jason to buy the restaurant from him. Jason accepted his offer and spent the next few years working to save up money in order to make the down payment. Jason went to the Art Institute of Troy as well in order to finish culinary school and hone his skills in the kitchen. After three years of hard work Jason was able to buy Bogartíz from his father and started turning the restaurant into his own vision. Jason redid the whole front of the building, changed the lighting, and even added an outdoor patio area. In addition to aesthetics, Jason also revamped and updated the menu to a more contemporary style. Jason wanted Bogartíz Food & Spirits to have a gastropub vibe where people could come and enjoy a good beer with quality food. Everything at Bogartíz is fresh and made in-house. Jason handpicks the ingredients they use in the kitchen to ensure the best quality. One of their signature dishes is the Bogartíz Burger that comes with cheddar, bacon, and portabella mushrooms. Another popular dish among customers is the Wise Guy Sandwich, which is made with steak, mozzarella, horseradish aioli, and sautÈed onions. The tacos and pizza are other items that customers canít seem to get enough of. Bogartíz also offers a full bar filled with great drink choices. Jason added a large variety of craft beers for customers to pair with their meals when he took over Bogartíz. The restaurant also has wines and hard liquors to pick from as well. Bogartíz Food & Spirits does take reservations and suggests them for the weekends. Bogartíz does offer some specials as well. Tuesdays they feature half off pizza and Wednesday nights are half off wine. The restaurant is warm and welcoming with TVs that show all the local sports games. The staff is friendly and professional and makes sure every guestís experience is a great one. For a fresh, delicious meal and the perfect drink to match, make sure to stop by Bogartíz Food & Spirits to catch a game or enjoy a fun night out!
