Before coming to America, Ryan Rehen worked for the airlines, traveling all over the world. At every location he visited, he tried their version of Indian cuisine. In 2001, Rehen came to the United States. At first he tried his hand at owning a liquor store, but when the time was right, he opened his own restaurant. He recognised there was a niche for fast Indian food with full flavor, as Americans do not have much time to wait. Rehen started out small, at their first location Cafe India. Within three years, there started to be more customers than there were open seats. Rehen decided to open a second, more upscale location, Cafe India Bar and Grill. Cafe India Bar and Grill features very comfortable seating, an outdoor heated patio, and a full bar that features more than a dozen Indian beer and liquor choices. There is also a hookah bar, delicious lunch buffet and easily accessible, being open 365 days a year. This location can accommodate parties of 30-500 people. It is not unusual for customers to drive 35 to 45 minutes to dine at Cafe India Bar and Grill. The chicken tikka masala has won three awards, so the long commute for this scrumptious dish is not surprising. Some other customer favorites are the lamb vindaloo, chicken haryali and paneer tikka. While Cafe India Bar and Grill does not serve beef or pork, the menu does contain many chicken, shrimp and lamb dishes, as well as plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.
