Owners Chris and Natalia would like to warmly welcome you to Cafe Lava. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience. It is a stylishly decorated space and features alfresco seating on a spacious vibrant deck. It is conveniently located in Greater Northeast area of Philadelphia. Lava is offers elegant European fare in a friendly, inviting atmosphere. Family owned and operated,  the cafe prides itself in only using premium, fresh, locally sourced seasonally available ingredients. The menu includes entrees, soups, salads, freshly baked goods and fabulous desserts. Everything on the menu is scratch made in house. There are no chemicals or preservative in any of the food. According to Chris, who grew in kitchens and  has operated the restaurant for three years,  one of the menuís most popular items is their Khachapuri. a traditional Eastern European creation of cheese-filled bread. The bread is leavened and allowed to rise, and is shaped in various ways. The filling contains cheese, eggs and other ingredients. Another appetizer is M_m_lig_, made with non-GMO European corn homemade feta cheese and sour cream topped with an egg. Amongst the cold appetizers is a Red Caviar and Lox Plate, featuring homemade lox, red caviar and crepes. Also, Fresh Mozzarella with Tomatoes, topped off with balsamic glaze.The daily chefís choice of soup is always made fresh from scratch. Salads include the, Salad Lava,  made with potatoes, carrots, green onion, crawfish tails, crab meat, cucumber, boiled egg and capers with homemade mayonnaise and the Vostochny, a salad of, fried eggplant, tomato, peppers, cilantro, garlic, mixed greens and fresh mozzarella. The from scratch Vareniki are filled with a choice of cheese, potato or cherry.Hot entrees include; Transylvanian Style Stuffed Cabbage, made with fresh cabbage leaves, sauerkraut and stuffed with ground pork served over mamaliga with sour cream. And, Schnitzel French Style, boneless pork, beef or chicken, topped with vegetables and cheese, baked in the oven. Served with rice. Also, a Beef Stroganoff, a Russian dish of sauteed thin strips of beef, served in a sour cream sauce over buckwheat noodles. There are a dizzying array of Shish Kabob options. These include lamb, beef, shrimp and vegetables choices. Pizza possibilities include the Duck Pizza, a 10" pizza with spinach, duck breast and apples or the signature, Lava Pizza, a pizza with marinara sauce, crabmeat, baby shrimp, capers and cheese. There is even a children’s menu with Mac and Cheese. Cafe Lava is BYOB. It offers elegant European cuisine, taking pride in only using premium fresh ingredients.
