Cafe Zelda is named after F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wife and her influence in creating the roaring 20’s lifestyle. The restaurant is an updated version of French Style Bistro Cuisine. As such, one would expect to find selections including, Steak Frites, a herb grilled top sirloin steak with cafÈ frites and mustard butter and an entree of Duck Leg Confit and Duck Sausage prepared with, beets, sweets, wild mushrooms, frisÈe, truffle-chive vinaigrette. Yes, they are on the menu and prepared to perfection. However, you might not expect to find the Rockstar of the menu, the dish all Newport is buzzing about, Chicken Fried Lobster. Chicken Fried Lobster indeed. The shell is removed from a boiled lobster and then itís fried like chicken and served with coleslaw and garlic mashed potato and lobster gravy. Itís ridiculousThe Menu features a nice selection of Appetizers and small plates including a Nori Wrapped Ahi Tuna and the L’Assiete de Charcuterie, assorted dry-cured salamis, prosciutto and cheese. Also various salads and sandwiches. The fresh seafood specials depend upon the day’s catch so are always changing.Cafe Zelda hosts a Fantastic Brunch every Sunday from 11AM to 3PM. There is a full bar and an extensive wine list. Zelda can host private parties and other special events, their dining room can accommodate up to fifty people. The Cafe often teams up with craft breweries to host special five course beer dinners where the Chef creates a custom menu featuring entrees highlighting each beers special qualities.
