The Carmel Belle is located in the Doud Craft Studios on San Carlos, between Ocean and 7th, across from the Wells Fargo Bank in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The restaurant is owned by Jay and Chloe Dolata. Jay and Chloe originally worked in advertising in Detroit. One day they decided they wanted to work with food in California. In February of 2009 they opened the Carmel Belle. The popular eatery features a concept in which one orders and pays for their food in advance and it is then delivered to the table when ready. This option draws many diners who donít want to be held hostage by waitstaff. With its inviting fireplace, Chloe tells us she sees the restaurant like a library, where one can talk and eat. The menu at the Carmel Belle is composed of the finest and freshest locally sourced organic ingredients. All meat is hormone free, grass fed and humanely raised. Produce is purchased from farmers markets, farmers, and other local sources. Attention to detail and consistency set Carmel Belle apart from the competition. Since opening, Carmel Belleís kitchen staff of Alvaro, Roberto, and Erik has remained the same. For breakfast, the restaurant only poaches organic Glaum Ranch Eggs. They are served with toast and additionally paired with Hobbs bacon, prosciutto or sausage. A popular breakfast item is the Roasted Mushroom Melt featuring two soft poached eggs with white truffle oil and chives, served on country toast. Another great choice is the Green Eggs and Ham with two poached eggs, prosciutto la quercia, and arugula-herb purÈe on country toast. For lunch or dinner, try one of their popular salads. Their Farmerís Salad features free range chicken, avocado, tomato, bacon and bleu cheese, with mixed greens and lemon vinaigrette. All soup choices are homemade from scratch daily. A canít miss favorite on the menu is Belleís Meatloaf, featuring grass-fed angus beef, simple herbs and spices with homemade ketchup glazeThe restaurant also serves smoothies. Favorites include the Nutty Monkey, with almond milk, almond butter, banana, honey and yogurt. Also, the Johnny Cashew featuring, raw cashews, dates, spinach, cocoa powder and almond milk.
