Chalit Kijcharoen owns Chalitís Thai Bistro at 5103 Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg. The path from his native Thailand to restaurant entrepreneur included stops in Los Angeles, where he worked in Thai restaurants while getting an advanced degree and a stint as a financier with the investment giant Morgan Stanley. Though always his dream job, after a year in banking Chalit realized his heart just wasnít in it. After moving to Pennsylvania and being unable to find a job for a year, he went back to L.A. to help an old friend open a restaurant. He learned to cook and realized he’d like to bring the flavors of his homeland to Mechanicsburg. Chalitís Thai Bistro features authentic Thai cuisine using only the freshest and healthiest ingredients. Being the national dish of Thailand, it is no surprise the Pad Thai, with thin rice noodles sautÈed in tamarind seasoning, egg, bean sprouts, carrots, scallions and topped with crushed peanuts and fresh lime, is a popular menu item.
