The restaurant business is in Jay Chenís blood. He began managing his fatherís New York City restaurant at the tender age of 16. In 2001, the Chen family moved their restaurant to Carlisle and in 2013 they moved into the current location at 310 N. Hanover Street in Carlisle. The Hanover Street location was a former Hardeeís Restaurant. It took eight long months to transform the former burger joint into the design conceived by Jay himself. He personally designed all the elements and oversaw the procurement of materials. The result is a warm, soothing atmosphere enhanced by the sound of running water from the beautiful fountain. Popular chefís special sushi rolls include: The Angel Roll, The Godzilla Roll, and The Christmas Roll. Other popular items include the General Tsaoís Chicken and the Happy Family: lobster tail, chicken, beef, shrimp, and roast pork with vegetables in chefís special brown sauce. Also the Red Curry Seafood and the Basil Chicken Pot Pie are diner favorites. The menu is huge offering Chinese, Sushi, and Thai selections. Jay tells us itís like managing three restaurants in one. His favorite part of the business is meeting all kinds of different people. Chenís Asian Restaurant can host parties and events for groups up to fifty people.
