The Common Pub and Grille has been run by the same family for over forty years. The local mainstay has been a gathering place for locals, from factory workers to Roger Williams students. Owner and manager Courtney says itís the Bristol version of Cheers, the hit TV show. The restaurant is going through a series of renovations making it even more inviting. The thing Courtney enjoys most about the business is that every day is different. She loves meeting new people and seeing old friends return to the pub. She says, ìthey donít have gourmet food, they have great food.î Allstar menu items include a Seafood Cioppino made from a secret family recipe. There is a traditional Shrimp Mozambique with eight jumbo shrimp sauteed with garlic, butter, lemon, hot sauce, and house wine, mixed with Goya seasoning and served over rice and shoestring fries. Also getting rave reviews is the Creamy Seafood Mozambique, featuring little necks, shrimp. and scallops simmered in a sauce of garlic, butter, lemon, hot sauce, wine, goya seasoning, a hint of cream, and house made veggie stock then tossed with penne pasta. There is a great selection of sandwiches and salads too. Other entrees include: Fish & Chips and a Scallop Plate made with fresh sea scallops fried to perfection and served with your choice of a side.The Common Pub and Grille features a full bar with a bevy of specialty drinks. They have ten beers on tap and another dozen by the bottle. Additionally, they have a good choice of wine too. They have a monthly rotating list of specials. Sunday mornings the restaurant is open for breakfast with their famous Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Friday and Saturday nights feature live music. Wednesday is open mic night and free pizza and pool after the kitchen closes. Tuesday features a Mexican menu and a popular college night with a DJ. Sunday is Karaoke night.
