El Charro in Saint Clair Shores is one of four locations in the Detroit area. The first El Charro was established in 1971, and the second Saint Clair Shores location was opened in 1982. Family owned and operated for over four decades, the manager Steve started working for El Charro when he was a teenager as a cashier and worked his way up. He always had a great relationship with the original owners Delia and Marty, and now their children.At El Charro, you get to eat exactly what you want. ìOur platform is to create your own combo so you are not locked into a specific burrito. We can make whatever you want here,î Steven explained. The Pick 1, Pick 2, and Pick 3 combinations are very popular. Each combo includes a side of rice and beans and a medium drink, and you get to choose one, two, or three of the following; taco, enchilada, tostada, burrito, chimichanga, or tamale. Over the years, El Charro has transformed from a primarily carry out location to a premiere quick-serve experience. Everything is made fresh in the restaurant, including the ground beef, beans and rice all made fresh daily. The dining room fills up quick, but Steven and his team are dedicated to getting you in and out in under an hour. El Charro is a place that you can make a part of your night out. ìIf you got somewhere to go like the movies or a game, this place wonít slow down your night.
