El Gallo De Oro is run by Julissa and Christopher Salgado. Julissa is the daughter of Gustavo and Julia Orama who left Cuba in 1980 by way of the Muriel Boatlift. Gustavo and Julia opened the business in 1983. The restaurantís name El Gallo De Oro or ìThe Golden Roosterî pays homage to Gustavoís fondness of roosters. The restaurant is known as a place to enjoy authentic Cuban cuisine in a warm and inviting family atmosphere. The signature dish of El Gallo De Oro is the Roast Pork. All entrees are served with two sides and warm Cuban bread. Another favorite is the Fried Pork or Puerco Frito, which is actually not fried but boiled in a aromatic mix of spices.
