Emilio Gervilla is a native Spaniard who got his start in the restaurant industry back home in Spain. When Emilio moved to the United States he worked in several Miami restaurants, and later moved to Chicago to opened one of the first tapas restaurants in the city for Lettuce Entertain You. A few years later Emilio decided he would open his own tapas restaurant, and opened Emilioís Tapas Hillside with his wife Maria. Twenty-eight years later they are still going strong. Throughout the years, Emilio has opened several tapas restaurants, and at one point had five restaurants at the same time. Currently, they own two Emilioís Tapas locations in Chicago: Emilioís Tapas Hillside is just west of Manheim, and Emilioís Tapas Sol Y Nieve Downtown is just east of Michigan Avenue. Tapas, or small plates, are easy to share and create a great meal for anyone who likes to try different things. Emilioís Tapas serves hot tapas, cold tapas, and paellas. ëPatatas con Aliolií, also known as Emilioís Famous Garlic Potato Salad, is one of the most popular plates. Made with lots of garlic and a bit of spice, it is a delicious customer favorite! Both Emilioís Tapas locations offer a full bar that specializes in Spanish wines (over 70 different bottles) and offer signature drinks highlighting Spanish liquors. Both locations also have outdoor seating, a separate dining area for private parties, and offer on and off site catering for any event. The Emilioís Tapas Sol Y Nieve location offers delivery, and the Hillside location plays live music every Friday. Come enjoy some delicious traditional Spanish tapas at Emilioís Tapas in Hillside or Downtown!
