Garciaís Restaurant located in Lincoln Square first opened in 1990 and has remained the only Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Luis and Rigo Garcia are the original owners of the restaurant and today Luisí children help manage the front of the house and help run the kitchen in back. Garciaís started as a small restaurant, but over the years has expanded into a large venue with full bar, private party room, and outdoor patio. The menu is full of delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts. One of the most popular appetizers is their Ceviche. It comes with either shrimp or tilapia and guests have the option to mix the two as well. The fish and shrimp are marinated every morning with fresh lime juice and onions that gives it a light and refreshing taste. Another fan favorite is the Tortilla Soup. It is made with a chipotle base that gives it the perfect amount of spice, chicken, crispy tortilla strips, corn, cheese, avocado, and sour cream. The flavor profile comes together perfectly creating a delicious combination in every bite. The soup is a great start to any meal and has also proven to be a great hangover cure. What Garciaís is best known for is their Chicagoís Best Burrito. It was actually featured on the TV show Chicagoís Best, which is where it got its name. The burrito is filled with steak, pork, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and sour cream then is rolled up in a big tortilla and covered in melted cheese and ranchero sauce. Itís very filling, but full of fresh and tasty ingredients that come together to form a medley of flavor. The Fajitas are another popular dish that come out sizzling and steaming on a hot skillet. Customers can pick between steak, chicken, and shrimp or ask for a mixture of them all. They come with tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and warm tortillas to wrap it all up in. As soon as they leave the kitchen their sight and smell can get anyoneís mouth watering! All of Garciaís meals come in great portions at excellent prices. On the weekends you can expect to run into a wait because the restaurant is so popular, but they use a very cool ìNo Waitî app where customers can add their name to the wait list. Then the restaurant will text them when their table is ready so customers donít have to wait at the restaurant. As mentioned before, Garciaís has expanded their restaurant into quite the large space. Their private party room can hold up to twenty-five guests, their full-service bar has fifteen barstools, and they have another side room that opens up into the outdoor patio that has twelve seats outside. Guests can reserve the space for special events and parties and the restaurant will work with them to create special menus and food packages for the event. All in all, Garciaís is the perfect spot to enjoy a great meal and drinks with friends and family. The atmosphere is warm and lively while the staff is extremely friendly and hard working.
