Gildaís Dolce Vita is a restaurant located at 516 Dekalb Street in Bridgeport. Gildaís has some of the best homemade Italian Cuisine in Bridgeport. Originally opened in 1992 as a deli, Gildaís became a full service restaurant several years later. In 2007, Gilda decided to retire. During her retirement she spent a great deal of time in Texas cooking with her daughter Jamie. Several years later, Jamie and her husband moved back to their native Pennsylvania. Gilda and Jamie continued to cook together. In 2014 Gilda decided to reopen Gildaís Dolce Vita. Today the restaurant is operated by Gildaís daughter Jamie. Popular menu items include the Dolce Vita Salad with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, artichokes, mozzarella cheese, and grilled chicken over mixed greens. Also, the Caesar Salad fresh romaine and house caesar topped with seasoned croutons.Veal dishes include Veal Parmigiana, lightly breaded and topped with marinara sauce. And, Veal Picatta sauteed in lemon wine sauce with capers.Gildaís features nightly specials and recent additions to the menu include: Eggplant Puttanesca and Braciole & Cioppino, a seafood stew.Homemade pastas include: Penne, Linguini, Cheese Tortellini, Angel Hair, Spaghetti, and Gnocchi and can be paired with your choice of homemade sauce including: Alfredo, Bolognese, and Vodka.Chicken dishes include: Lemon Chicken, a breast of chicken baked in a lemon butter sauce. Also, the Chicken Cacciatori featuring chicken cubes simmered in tomatoes, onions, carrots, red and green peppers in a light red sauce. And, Chicken Marsala sauteed in marsala wine with fresh mushrooms. Whichever entree you select make sure to leave room for a dessert like the homemade Tiramisu.
