Howlers Craft Burgers and Beer is located in Gastonia, North Carolina. Ownerís Chet and Sasha opener Howlerís because Gastonia did not have many craft burger and beer bars, and the pair wanted to open their restaurant. Howlerís opened in 2013 but the two had been in the restaurant business for fourteen years prior to that.Howlers offers 40-50 different types of hand-pressed burgers. There are numerous toppings that can be added to the burgers such as avocado and fried egg. Howlers also has the option to ìCraft Your Own Burger,î meaning one selects any toppings they want, as well as the type of bun and meat used. They then can name their burger and if the ownerís like it, they may put it on their list of specials for that day. Some of the most popular burgers are the bacon, egg, and cheeseburger, as well as the ìCarolina Chiliî burger with homemade chili. Another fan favorite is ìThe Billy.î The Billy Burger is named after Sashaís father William. It is an open faced sandwich on rye bread with ham, turkey, blue cheese, bacon, tomato and a homemade Russian dressing. William used to make this burger when Sasha was young, and in turn, she put it on the menu of Howlers.Aside from burgers, Howlerís has salads, sandwiches and wraps for healthier options. There is the option to ìCraft Your Own Saladî as well. There are many vegetarian options available and there are gluten free buns too. In addition to the wide range of food options, there is a huge selection of beers, cocktails, and wines. Much of Howlerís beer is from self-distributors and national brands. They have a ìBrewery of the Monthî and it is discounted online. Howlers also has ìTap Takeover,î meaning a representative from that company or brewery comes to Howlerís and gives away spirit wear and extra taps are running that night with beer from that brewery. Howlers has never ordered two of the same keg for one night. Once one keg is empty, they switch it out with a different type of beer. Howlers also tries to have at least one sour on tap as well. Howlers has daily specials such as fifty cent wings and Martini specials. They have live music on Thursday and Friday nights at 8 and 9 pm. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor, and they are looking to start a summer concert series to hold there. Saturday nights there is Karaoke. Although Howlers is a bar, it is very kid friendly. There are balloons and bubbles and patio where kids are able to play. Chet and Sasha have three little girls and pride themselves on the safe and fun environment Howlers provides.
