Jacksonís Blue Ribbon Pub brings the hometown to downtown with its local casual Wisconsin pub. Brothers Mark and Dan Zierath grew up in Milwaukee and each run a location, one downtown and one in Wauwatosa.While the business has been open for two years, the building itself was built in 1898 and was completed in the early 1900ís serving many uses, most notably being a former Pabst Brewery mill house. The building was vacant for over 20 years until developers renovated it. ìI am very familiar with the historical significance of the entire brewery complex,î Zierath said. ìMy grandfather was in the bar business. I gravitated to the bar business. I opened my first place in 1997, and have been in business since then.îAt Jacksonís Blue Ribbon Pub, the dishes and items on the menu are all made from scratch and fresh. Likewise, all of their meats are always fresh and never frozen along with the fresh localized produce. The restaurant serves a wide variety of dishes such as burgers, fish fry, pizza and wraps. In Milwaukee tradition, the pub offers a popular Friday fish fry. According to Zierath, the most popular dish on the pubís menu is their Wisconsin cheese curds. ìThey are beer-battered with Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and made to order,î Zierath said. ìIt is made from fresh Wisconsin made white mellow cheese curds, we sell them all day everyday nonstop.îThe restaurant is also well-known for its sandwiches, with many different kinds such as Tosa chicken, Cubano, avocado turkey ciabatta and Pederson pork chop sandwich. The sandwiches are presented to show off the quality and freshness, to help satisfy and impress customers.ìYou just canít emphasize the freshness and the quality made from scratch. All of our orders are made to order.
