Jacobyís German Biergarten is the oldest bar in Detroit. Established in 1904, Jacobyís German Biergarten is rich with history, great food and friendly people. After generations of Jacoby family owners, the Prohibition, a fire, and great and poor business management, Jacobyís German Biergarten was bought by Chicago investor Wally Wolff in 2006. Wallyís brother Geoff and his wife Monica took over managing the restaurant. These high school sweethearts stayed true to the core of Jacobyís German Biergarten. With no changes to the menu and still the same brilliant cook for the past 30 years, the restaurant is prospering. Geoff and Monica manage a great staff that ensure customers are well taken care of.Seen on Food Networkís ìDestination Americaî and Fox News, Jacobyís German Biergartenís ëRindfleisch Rouladení is legendary. A top round steak rolled with onions, bacon, carrots, celery and a pickle is served over spaetzle and topped with the traditional hunter sauce. The ëKoenigsberger Kloppsí, German style meatballs served over spaetzle, topped with lemon caper beurre blanc, is another customer favorite. Monica states that people come from all over for their ëPotato Pancakesí, claiming they are ìthe best they ever hadî. And, you can never go wrong with their classic ëGerman Sausage Soupí.As the only bar in Michigan that carries every Weihenstephaner beer, Jacobyís German Biergarten has the best selection of Austrian and German beers.
