Jakova Grill is a brand new Albanian restaurant in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The eatery gets its name from the Albanian city Gjakova, which was badly affected during the Kosovo War. Owners and husband and wife, Florim and Jackie, both grew up in Gjakova and fled to the U.S. during the war in search for freedom and a better life. They have been married for twenty-three and opened Jakova Grill together in mid 2016, marking the first time theyíve ever owned a restaurant. Florim used to always cook for friends and family growing up and now he acts as Head Chef at Jakova Grill.Everything at the grill is created from scratch using the freshest and finest ingredients. The menu is small and concise focusing on popular, traditional Albanian dishes. One of their bestsellers is the Xhevreka, which is a beef patty mixed with mozzarella cheese and garlic. Another favorite is the File that consists of a beef patty stuffed with mozzarella cheese. Florim only uses beef in his dishes in order to be mindful of religions who do not eat other meats.Jakova Grill is quaint with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Jackie, Florim, and their staff are always friendly and hardworking to ensure each customer leaves happy and satisfied. Since Albanian food is not always available in some towns, people from all over Michigan travel to eat their delicious, authentic food. The next time youíre craving a fresh, homemade meal, make sure to stop in at Jakova Grill. Itís a meal and experience that will have you coming back for more!
