Jaxon BYOB is a restaurant located at 701 North 3rd Street in Philadelphia. Previously the owner of south Phillyís The Latest Dish and Fluid nightclub, industry veteran Tony Schiro, is at the helm of the eatery that opened in the spring of 2016. Tony, who lives down the street from the restaurant, noticed the space where the old Il Cantuccio stood was available. Tony immediately envisioned his newest restaurant venture. The restaurantís namesake is Tonyís son Jaxon. Tony describes the cuisine as New American. The menu is written on a small blackboard and is ever changing, taking advantage of the best produce that the seasons have to offer that are sourced locally whenever possible. The intimate space seats twenty-two and Tony is always in the house making sure the divine dishes emanating from the open kitchen are prepared to perfection and served with precision. Diner demand necessitates two menu items are always available. The Macaroni and Cheese, a holdover from Tonyís last restaurant, is a big hit. The Grilled Octopus with taramasalata, cucumber, and radish packs a ìcanít pass up tasteî. The menu features items you wouldn’t normally see in a grocery store or cook for yourself. Wahoo and Cobia are two of Tonyís favorites. They are represented in the following dishes: the Cobia Crudo made with wakame, soy, and pickled watermelon and the Grilled Wahoo featuring littleneck clams, chorizo, and watercress. One of the best features of the restaurant is their BYOB policy. Guests can bring in their favorite bottle of wine or favorite beer to compliment any stand-out dish. Jaxon is closed on Tuesdays and it opens for dinner at 5:00 PM and closes at 10:00 PM except Friday and Saturday when it closes at 11:00 PM. If you are in Philadelphia and want a great meal, stop by Jaxon BYOB. Tony and his welcoming staff will ensure you have a great dining experience.
