Southern North Carolina specializes in a regional form of culinary arts that focuses on being both comforting and tangy. This form of cooking can be found at Jeffreyís restaurant. Jeffreyís has been open for 10 years since 2005. The restaurant is owned and run by restaurateurs Jeff and Terry Lancaster. Lancaster also owns other North Carolina restaurants including Lancasterís BBQ and the Boathouse. The restaurant is managed by Kerri Williams. She has been in the restaurant industry for 40 years and came to Jeffreyís after Lancaster reached out and offered her a position at Jeffreyís.Jeff Lancasterís main goal for the restaurant was to have a Charleston styled cuisine. This type of deep southern cooking is primarily American food with a spicy twist. Williams said that the restaurant is known for its shrimp, seafood, steaks and varieties The menu changes seasonally, with certain items staying on permanently. They are also known for being very fast and efficient with serving the dishes with it being high quality.The menu serves primarily distinctive appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches and chef featured entrees. Some signature dishes on the menu include its shrimp and grits, petite filet, homemade quiche, grilled portobello, ribeye steak, and fried green tomatoes. The restaurant serves as a hotspot for traveling business workers, with its location off the highway. Williams said that she observed that surprisingly the weekdays are the busiest day in terms of service during dinner time versus the weekends.Unlike most other restaurantís forms of service, Williams encouraged the staff to take an approach of being more personal, with the staff making an attempt to get to know the customers. This method helps the servers build a relationship with the customers so that they will return in the future.All of the staff is family and have been together and stuck around since the restaurant opened. The restaurantís main chef Gene Peacock has been working at Jeffreyís for 2 and a half years, having been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. In regards to the services they have to offer, Jeffreyís has a full bar with a specialty drink list including a martini, coffee, craft draft beer and wine list. In addition, there are lunch and dinner specials every day, including its special homemade soup list.In addition Jeffreyís also supplies other services such as catering, takeout and event planning with a banquet and lounge hall that can hold anywhere up to 60 to 100 people.
