Taking authentic Venezuelan cuisine and driving it to the forefront, La Arepa has seamlessly immersed itself as a cornerstone to the Pawtucket area with their tried and true cuisine. Owners Nohemi and Jorge Rodriguez started from humble beginnings taking their passion to deliver their heritage to the area with their purchase of a food truck. Right away they gained rapid success, they would virtually sell out of their dishes in two and a half hours because of the widespread popularity. Their rise to success was solely due to their genuine and honest effort to provide something fresh, and it became so well known that they were forced to expand to a storefront. They have not looked back ever since, and have quite remarkably become a household name as one of the must have places in the area. Showcasing the culture to the highest degree, it doesn’t get more authentic than the Venezuelan cuisine Nohemi and Jorge have been able to put forth. The arepas come widely notorious, all of the dough is made from scratch in house, and the combinations create a different experience with each visit. Fillers range from shredded beef and shredded chicken to pulled pork, ham, black beans and cheese. No matter the instance, the team at the restaurant never freeze anything, and all of the ingredients are as fresh as they come, ensuring a top notch experience time after time. Another well known dish, the pavellon criollo consists of fries, shredded beef, fried plantains, avocado, shredded cheese, traditional Venezuelan green sauce and pink sauce. The Venezuelan hamburger is also a top choice among guests, crafted with marinated ground beef, American cheese, ham, bacon, egg tomatoes, onion, mustard, mayo, ketchup and pink sauce. Above all else, Nohemi has been able to provide recipes that have been passed down through her family, and the family influence is prevalent from top to bottom, making for an authentic Venezuelan meal while visiting the area.
