The Batista family has always had a passion for cooking and serving food. In the 1970s Luigi and Antonette opened up their own pizzeria that transformed over the years into a white tablecloth restaurant. In the 80s they sold the restaurant, but it wasnít long before their hearts yearned to return to the business. In 1992, Luigiís Restaurant and Luigiís Gourmet Express were born. Today, Luigi and Antonetteís son, Ralph, runs the restaurant with his sisters and acts as head chef. The restaurant and Gourmet Express are located right next to each other and connect through a door inside. The restaurant features two dining rooms and a full bar while the express side offers already-prepared, take-home foods and full service catering.Luigiís specializes in Southern Italian comfort foods, Italian-American favorites, and traditional New England fare. Everything at the restaurant is made from scratch using the freshest and finest ingredients. They make all their own soups, sauces, dough, bread, dessert, and even pasta! Unlike Northern Italian cuisine that is full of butter and heavy cream, Luigiís serves Southern Italian that is a bit lighter and focuses on using robust red sauces and olive oil in their dishes. One of their most popular dishes is the Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken is lightly breaded then topped with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. The rest of the menu consists of delicious appetizers, soups & salads, pasta, pizza, seafood, and meat dishes. Ralphís favorite part of the restaurant industry is the creative side and he loves being able to express himself through the food he serves.On the Gourmet Express side, customerís favorite take-home item is Little Nonaís Chicken Escarole soup. The recipe is Ralphís grandmotherís and it is sold by the gallon. The soup is many peopleís go-to remedy when someone is under the weather.
