Paul Gonnella and Michael Politano opened the first Manatee Island Bar and Grill in January of 2010. Both of them have been in the restaurant and country club business all their lives. Paul and Michael both hail from the northeast, and wanted to figure out a way to stay in Florida. It took a couple of years to find the perfect location, but the searching was worth it. In November of 2009, they purchased an empty building in Stuart, Florida and spent ten weeks renovating. In January of 2010, Manatee Island Bar and Grill was opened. The restaurant that used to be at their location was more of an indoor place, but Paul and Michael wanted to enjoy the outdoors. Their vision was to provide good food and casual, waterfront dining. The first thing they did was put in a tiki bar, and within an hour of it opening, it was packed. Paul explains the tiki bar has been packed for six years, it is such a hot attraction. Manatees swim up regularly, which make the dozen tables right around the water very popular. The outdoor seating can even be protected and heated if needed, with sliding doors so you can still see right outside. The indoor seating is popular as well, as inside the restaurant is truly beautiful. You can still see the water from many of the tables.Manatee Island Bar and Grill is known for their fresh seafood. A customer favorite is the ëBourbon Glazed Salmoní, served with mashed sweet potatoes and fresh vegetables. People also love the ëMussels Margaritaí ñ mussels sauteed in tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Manatee Island Bar and Grill puts their own twist on food, generating unique and delicious creations.Visit Manatee Island Bar and Grill in Stuart or their second location in Fort Pierce, and taste a bit of paradise.
