Martineís RiverHouse Restaurant and Bar is located at 14 East Ferry Street in beautiful New Hope, Pennsylvania. The RiverHouseís owner, Martine, tells us she was a French and anthropology major in college. One summer she filled in for her sister, working in a restaurant and she developed a passion for cooking. Martineís RiverHouse is her third restaurant and it just celebrated itís tenth anniversary in this location and 27th overall. The restaurant is housed in a post and beam constructed barn dating back to 1717. After nearly two years of restoration the restaurant opened in September 2006. The beautifully restored space has French doors opening to a large deck where diners can enjoy meals with fantastic views of the Delaware river. Martine and her amazingly talented kitchen staff, collaborate in forging a creative menu featuring seasonally changing and locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant has fresh fish and seafood delivered daily. A popular menu item is the Steamed Clams, with basil pesto, heirloom tomatoes, and white wine broth. Another favorite is the Grilled Ahi tuna served rare, dusted with szechuan pepper, basmati rice, napa cabbage slaw with a maitake mushroom ponzu. Martine says her Grilled Filet Mignon, with whipped gold potatoes, grilled asparagus, demi glace brandied black cherries, and danish bleu cheese, outshines any steakhouse. Make sure to save room for one of the RiverHouseís sinful, made-from-scratch desserts. The restaurant features a full bar with many specialty drinks. It also has a nice selection of wines. If you are looking for a wonderful meal in a gorgeous location adjacent to the Delaware River stop in at Martineís RiverHouse Restaurant & Bar.
