Maxwellís Tavern is located in a very charming little town of Waxhaw inside a building that was constructed in 1888. Brothers Johnny and Terry Balatsias, having grown up in the restaurant business, purchased the building in October of 2010 to start their own restaurant, Maxwellís Tavern. They run the restaurant with the help of their wives, Katina and Cindy, and between the four of them they have 75 years of industry experience. The owners wanted to provide customers with what they enjoy when they go out; fresh, good food and immaculate service.Everything at Maxwellís Tavern is cooked to order. The burgers are a huge hit ñ the Certified Angus beef is ground in house. With eight unique burger selections always on the menu and their ëBurger of the Monthí that changes each month, there are many delicious options to try. The menu offers a big variety, making it great for families. You will be able to find something for everyone. Customers canít get enough of their ëFried Picklesí, perfectly breaded and crisped to perfection. The ëMaple Cured Salmoní is also very popular, maple marinated, blackened and grilled, served as a plate or on top of a salad.Katina likes to think of Maxwellís Tavern as a restaurant that happens to have a bar in it. With their 16 taps, they try to provide a lot of local beers and change the selection up often, including offering speciality and limited release brews. Maxwellís Tavern believes a good craft beer is the perfect compliment to fresh, quality food. If you are more of a wine lover, they also have a good wine selection. Visit on Wines Day Wednesday for a generous 8 oz pour of wine (and their delicious Fish Fry!) and Thirsty Thursdays for a dollar off on drafts.
