Melao Latin Cuisine opened in 2012 under owners Madeleine and Kala who are both from Colombia. The restaurant was named after candy that is made from sugar cane, which is a major crop in South America. The restaurant specializes in creating authentic Latin dishes that customers canít get enough of. Their menu is full of variety from appetizers and salads to entrees from the sea and grill. One of the most popular dishes off the menu is the Churrasco, which is a 14 oz grilled New York strip steak served with potatoes, yucca, and sweet plantains in a chimichurri sauce. The Bandeja Paisa is another fan favorite, but requires a big appetite to finish! The dish is served on Melaoís traditional mountain platter and has grilled top sirloin, pork belly, white rice, pinto beans, white cheese corn cake, fried eggs, Colombian sausage, sweet plantains, and avocado. Itís full of fresh ingredients and a variety of flavors that taste great when combined together. They also make delicious empanadas that customers absolutely love. They come in three different styles: chicken, beef, and vegetable and are served with hot salsa. They are served as an appetizer, but guests can also order them individually. People love them so much that theyíll actually call into the restaurant requesting large orders of them for parties or special occasions. The restaurant can host large groups of people for special events like rehearsal dinners or birthday parties. Melao has a warm and cozy atmosphere where guests are invited to sit back, relax, and enjoy their time. They even have an outdoor patio for customers to enjoy their meal when the weather is nice outside. Every two Fridays the restaurant also features live Latin music that adds some fun and liveliness to the ambiance. The next time youíre in the area and looking for a spot with great food, service, and atmosphere look no further than Melao Latin Cuisine! Itís an experience you wonít forget!
