Alex, chef and partner in Mijana Lebanese Cuisine invites you to join him as he introduces you to the tastes and culture of his native Lebanon. Trained under the watchful eye of his cousin who was at the time the finest chef in all of Lebanon, Alex brought his talent and vision to the United States over twenty years ago. At Mijana your experience will be heightened to a whole new plane as you experience authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and ambiance. Chef also mentioned traditional Lebanese cuisine is inherently healthy because of the extensive use of olive oil and vegetables.Arak, a strong middle eastern drink is traditionally enjoyed in Lebanon. The tradition of eating many appetizer dishes known as Mezza on small plates arose from the need to insure food was present as Arak was consumed. These include Hummus and Baba Ghanouj, grilled eggplant blended with garlic, tahini and lemon juice and served with olive oil. Hot Mezza selections include Falafel and Makenek, a home made sausage sauteed in lemon juice. Chef also recommends the Shish Kabobs or Chicken Kabobs for a main course. Mijanaís special entrees include A Veggie Combo and Bamieh Stew which is a sauteed okra with lamb, tomato sauce, cilantro and garlic served over rice. Alexís son Shariff who assists his father in the restaurant wanted us to mention the whole Red Snapper offered as a special on a regular basis. And remember to save room for delicious in house made dessert.Mijana also features a full bar and has wide array of specialty cocktails to sample. The wine list includes offerings from California as well as Lebanese wine drinking like a complex cabernet with tones of Black Cherry. The restaurant also feature hookahs with many wonderful flavors. On Friday and Saturday nights entertainment is provided by a belly dancer. Carryout and catering are also available.
