Oros Thai Restaurant, San Jose CA | Merchant Profile

The owner of Oros Thai Restaurant, Chayada Tungkasiri (known to her customers as Emmy), explained that the word ìOrosî in Thai refers to ìSonî. Emmy and her husband, Beer, chose the restaurant name out of their desire to provide a better life for their son. Emmy used to be a housewife while her husband was a partner in a restaurant. When he sold his part of the partnership, Emmy didn’t want him to go back to being just a waiter because of her and his family’s wealth of experience in the restaurant business. Now, Emmy focuses on providing excellent customer service to the front of the house, while her husband Beer, his mother Jaew Reynalds, and his Aunti Samien combine over 20 years of experience to manage the kitchen and create these popular dishes.Emmy decided to find a place where they could open and run their own restaurant. After a long time of searching, she finally found a great landlord that gave her a chance, even when Emmy didnít have solid proof she would be successful. Her landlord believed in her, and Emmy is ever grateful that she was able to create a beautiful restaurant. Oros Thai Restaurant has been open less than a year, but quickly became a favorite to local Thai food lovers. This highly rated restaurant is usually busy and rightfully so. The clean, modern space is filled with delicious aromas and smiling faces. Emmy strongly believes in making a personal connection with her customers. Oros Thai Restaurantís ëPad Thaií is very popular; rice noodles with egg, green onions, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts with your choice of meat. Thai curry lovers enjoy the ëMassaman Curryí. Potatoes, onions, peanuts and your choice of meat are simmered in coconut milk, massaman curry paste, and peanut sauce. Delicious! If you like seafood, order the ëSeafood Delightí, a combination of seafood (prawns, mussels, scallops, fish fillet and calamari) sauteed with chili paste, onion, bell pepper, garlic, ginger, and fresh lime leaves. This hidden gem might take a second to find, but it is completely worth it, plus there are tons of free parking spaces. Emmy ensures you will love the food. Her authentic Thai cuisine is made using family recipes as well as some of her own creations. If you ask for medium spice, you will get medium Thai spicy, not medium American spicy, so be prepared!
