Pat OíBrienís Tavern was originally established in 1948 by Pat OíBrien. Pat passed the restaurant down to his son Zeno, and Zeno passed the restaurant down to his son Pat. In 2006, Pat decided to sell the restaurant but did not want it to be changed from Pat OíBrienís Tavern – he wanted to keep the legacy alive. Rich bought into the business as a silent partner, and in 2011 began to learn all the ins and out of the business. Currently, Rich is the only owner.The Pat OíBrienís Tavern name is still the same, but most everything has changed to stay relevant and succeed in a changing world. The one original Pat OíBrienís legacy they did keep are the Perch Dinners. The Tavern gets their Yellow Lake Perch from Lake St. Clair, which is just about 200 yards away from the restaurant. The Perch Dinner recipe is still the same, but everything else has expanded greatly.Rich brought aboard Chef Michael in the beginning of 2016 to change things up a bit. They both agreed that St. Clair Shores needed more food innovation. They will be expanding on the delicious Irish fare that OíBrienís has established, adding new wave Irish food, pasta, and roasted meats. Their Special Board highlights Chef Michaelís new features that just might make their way to the permanent menu.Pat OíBrienís Tavern offers an upscale casual feel. They are planning in the near future to link up with smaller breweries, launch a new menu in September 2016, and complete a remodel. The modernized Bangers and Mash is a must try – with several different flavored Irish sausages and a delightful sweet cabbage with red onion marmalade. Pat OíBrienís Tavern is not a place to miss.
