Opened just after Labor Day in 2011, Portalia Ristorante is located in Astoria, New York City and is owned by Antonio Trinidade. Having been in the business since 1988, Mr. Trinidade prides himself on his ability to provide excellent customer service as well as great food, and an ambiance only Portalia Ristorante can provide. The most important thing to Mr. Trinidade, and what separates Portalia from other restaurants, is that everything from the fresh made pasta ravioli to the gnocchi with fresh ricotta cheese is all homemade. One of the most popular dishes, the Pappardelle, made with large noodles, fresh mozzarella, and fresh tomatoes, is a customer favorite and is all freshly prepared. Along with the fresh pastas the restaurant serves Coconut Crusted Codfish, Chicken Piccata, and Veal Saltimbocca topped with prosciutto.Unlike most restaurants in the area, Portalia Ristorante provides Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. until closing hours. The brunch, a fan favorite, provides a various selection of food including Eggs Benedict, French Toast, and various sandwiches and burgers including a Smoked Salmon Burger and a Steak Panini with grilled skirt steak. Along with the brunch, the unlimited drinks as a two-hour special last up until 4:00 p.m. include mimosas, Bloody Marys, and music to enhance the ambiance.
