Rincon Criollo is located at 16 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station. A true family business, Rudy Acosta owns the restaurant with his father Rudy, his mother Gilda, and his sister Esther. Rincon Criollo is named after a 1950s Cuban movie that Rudyís uncle Renee particularly liked. All of the recipes in the restaurant are exactly the same ones used in Rudyís grandfather’s restaurant in Cuba. His Uncleís have admonished him not to change the menu. Rincon Criolloís atmosphere strives to be a home away from home. Rudy tells us he wants patrons to feel as though they are visiting a family member’s house. Popular dishes include their signature, Ropa Vieja, which is tender flank steak in a rich and mellow tomato sauce with green bell peppers and onions served with rice and beans. The Oxtail stew is a traditional dish and is beefy oxtail in a tomato and red wine sauce served with mixed rice, beans, and bacon with sweet plantains. The entree with the most history behind it is the Roast Pork Shoulder. It is prepared just like it was six decades ago in Cuba. The sauce of white wine, oregano, lime juice, and garlic keeps the meat moist and delicious. It is also served with rice and beans. The restaurant has a full bar with many specialty drinks. If youíre looking for delicious and authentic Cuban cuisine, be sure to visit Rincon Criollo. Rudy, his family, and attentive staff will ensure you have a great dining experience!
