Spring Primavera is a restaurant located at 118 Main Road in Tiverton. One of the co-owners, Joe, tells us the restaurant is the oldest Portuguese restaurant in Rhode Island. The eatery was founded over forty years ago by his in-laws Joao and Lidia Rodriguez. The name Primavera means spring and it also refers to adding colorful vegetables to dishes. Joe and his wife Carminha really enjoy running the front of the restaurant. Joe often tends bar. He shares his favorite part of the restaurant business is meeting and greeting customers. He enjoys the interaction, encountering new people, and making new friends. Joe invites diners to tempt their tastebuds at Spring Primavera. The Bacalhau a Braz is a famous Portuguese dish made with salt cod, potatoes, and eggs. The codfish is a prevalent menu item. The restaurant serves it grilled, baked, and sauteed. Mozambique style dishes include shrimp, chicken, and pasta, and of course, there is Portuguese style steaks. The restaurant features a children’s menu, live music on Saturday night, and a full bar.
