Tavern On The Hill, Philadelphia PA | Merchant Profile

Tavern On The Hill opened in 2008 after being completely renovated to give it a brand new look and feel from the previous establishment. Before Tavern On The Hill opened, there was a bar in its place that only served drinks without any food. The staff at Tavern On The Hill has worked hard to separate their reputation from that bar as a new gastro pub that sells amazing food and drinks. At Tavern On The Hill they focus on three fundamentals: fresh food, great service, and an amazing atmosphere. Jared, who is the Executive Chef as well as a co-owner of the restaurant, makes sure to buy the freshest, high-quality ingredients available. Everything on the menu is homemade from scratch including their nine different salad dressings, variety of sauces, and daily soup choices. Being a tavern, the food is all tavern-related, but is cooked fresh to order with amazing attention to details. One of the most popular items at Tavern On The Hill is their signature Tavern Wings. Available with six different homemade sauces, the wings are marinated in a secret marinade and cooked four times. First they are baked, then fried, and then put on the char broiler to give the wings a smoky and crispy finish. They promise their wings are one-of-a-kind and probably some of the best youíll ever taste. The Portabella Mushroom Fries are another fan favorite that people have driven quite a ways just to have. They are served with a garlic marsala aioli that pairs perfectly with the mushrooms making the dish a stand out.  Tavern On The Hill also offers different specials every day. The specials change depending on what ingredients and produce are freshest and in abundance. The tavern will make duck specials frequently that customers canít get enough of. If youíre looking for a consistent dish from the menu, Tavern On The Hillís burgers are all ground fresh locally and delivered fresh, never frozen. The burgers are always juicy and bursting with good flavors. The restaurant can only seat about twenty-six people, so it may be wise to call-ahead and put your name on the list – especially on weekends, which is their busiest time.  The tavern even features live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and occasionally on Thursdays too. The music is easy listening, background music for guests to enjoy a nice ambiance while they relax. There are thirteen seats at their full bar, which is stocked with a wide variety of great drinks. There are ten beers on tap and twice as many available in bottles. The tavern has a nice selection of reasonably priced wines as well. They even have a happy hour with great deals and specials Monday through Thursday.  The portions of both the food and drinks are large and always set at a great price. The locals know Tavern On The Hill as a gem of Chestnut Hill. The food is high quality, fresh, creative, and unmatched by any other restaurants in the area. The next time youíre in the area and looking for a place with great eats and drinks, look no further than Tavern On The Hill for an experience you wonít forget!
