Tecalitlan Restaurant was established in 1973 by Carlos Garcia. Carlos came from Mexico when he was 15, and opened Tecalitlan Restaurant when he was just 21. Four decades and two expansions later, Tecalitlan Restaurant continues to be the go-to Mexican restaurant for many Chicagoans. Carlos, mostly retired, passed down Tecalitlan Restaurant to his daughter Karla and his two sons Juan Carlos and Daniel. The restaurant is truly family owned and operated – you will always find one of the Garcias at the restaurant. As Tecalitlan Restaurant grew in size, so did the menu. One of Carlosís sons went to culinary school and helps his dad come up with new and creative dishes. Tecalitlan Restaurant is famous for their burritos and margaritas.
