Teskeís Germania has been a cornerstone for great German food and drinks in San Jose for the last thirty-six years. November of 2016 will mark their twenty-seventh year in business and they donít plan on slowing down anytime soon. The original owners opened the restaurant in 1980 and had it for ten years, then in 1990 the Baumann family took over and have been running it ever since. Hans Baumann and his three children Greg, Scott, and Cindy all help run and manage the restaurant. Scott is actually the Executive Chef and trained and got a degree under world-class chefs in Germany before working in the restaurant. Their menu consists of European and German cuisine that is made from fresh, high quality ingredients. The dinner menu is even gastronomy, which means that it includes soup, salad, an entrÈe, and dessert all for one price. One of the most popular and unique dishes on the menu is the Schweine Haxe mit Kartoffelsalat und Sauerkraut, which consist of baked pork shank served with German potato salad and sauerkraut. This is definitely a traditional German dish that canít be found anywhere else in the area. The J‰gerschnitzel is another fan favorite that comes with a breaded pork cutlet topped with special white wine mushroom sauce and served with homemade pasta. The restaurant is full-service with white tablecloths and cloth napkins, something you donít see very often anymore. The entire building can hold up to 275 people, which makes Teskeís Germania a great place to hold parties, weddings, receptions, or anything of the sort. Of course, they offer catering services to accommodate any event! There are separate rooms as well; the entrance features a rustic full-bar that can seat twenty-five to thirty people, then there is the Bavarian room that is an intimate, smaller dining area, the Victorian room that is the main dining room that has high-vaulted ceilings and animal heads that adorn the walls, and finally a beautiful outdoor beer garden that can hold between eighty and 100 people. The full bar features an extensive German beer list, great selection of wine made up mostly of Californian wines with a few German wines too, and specialty cocktails and liquors as well. Their J‰gertee and fruit brandy are some of the most popular picks. Overall, Teskeís Germania is the perfect spot to enjoy after-work drinks, a large family get together, or intimate dinner date. The atmosphere is lively, fun, and family-friendly, which makes every customer feel at home. The staff is also very friendly, warm, and well experienced since the majority have worked there for years. The next time youíre in town make sure to stop by Teskeís Germania for a meal and experience you wonít forget because their biggest mission is to have fun!
