The Bamboo Bar and Grill on the Nautical Mile in Freeport opened itís doors 2011. Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandyís wrath forced an unscheduled remodeling in the fall of 2012. The refurbishing of the restaurant is what contributes to itís cool, beachy, breezy kind of a vibe. Check out the big wave in the corner seating area. Or the cool, concrete and bamboo bar.  On nice days they can open windows all the way and allow pleasant zephyrs to  waft through the building. The Grass Hut evokes a laid back beach-like feel. The staff,  expertly trained by  Manager John Fiore,  is engagingly warm and welcoming. You can hang out on the beach until about 11PM.There are a bevy of specialty drinks created by Bambooís talented and creative mixologists. The Fresh Blackberry Margarita and Pineapple Mint Mojitos are two house favorites. According to one patron, the Melon Margarita was ìDelishî and tasted like the popular Jolly Rancher Candy. The Bamboo Bar and Grill offers up fourteen beers on tap including; Blue Point Toasted Lager, Blue Point Toasted Lager, Shipyard Summer Ale and Pacifico. They serve another fifteen beers in bottles and cans including many Craft selections and old favorites like Bud and Corona.The extensive and reasonably priced menu offers a selection to make everybody happy. Starters include the best wings in town. Fresh, never frozen, jumbo bamboo wings. Featuring homemade sauces; hot, mild, teriyaki, sweet chili, BBQ, garlic parmesan or general tso’s. The Southern Fried Pickles, dredged in spicy flour and fried golden brown are also popular.  The highly reccomended Bamboo Monster Burger, features a hand rolled beef patty, augmented with sauteed mushrooms, sharp cheddar cheese, sliced avocado, a beer battered onion ring and an over easy egg. Served with a choice of hand cut french fries or a house salad. The Bamboo Burrito, seasoned shrimp grilled to perfection, marinated skirt steak, homemade pico de gallo, steamed rice, crisp lettuce, black beans and ripe avocadoes all rolled up in a warm flour tortilla is big enough to satisfy any appetite. Send the kids home,  as the night goes on The Bamboo Bar and Grill transforms itself into a raging night club, Sometimes featuring live music or a DJ spinning until close.
