The LakeHouse, Bay Shore NY | Merchant Profile

The Lakehouse opened in its original location in 2006. Its name was derived from the simple fact the building looked like a house and it was on a lake. Co-owner and General Manager Jay Gut tells us the success necessitating the move of the restaurant to a space almost four times larger is also based upon simplicity. Jay explains it is simply the quality of ingredients and simply the time and care co-owner and Chef Matt Connors puts into the construction of each and every dish. Every entree in the restaurant is prepped on the day it is served and  prepared to order. Chef Matt is fond of phrase, you canít rush perfection. The Octopus Salad, featuring Spanish Chorizo, a Chickpea PurÈe, Clementines and aged Sherry Vinegar was created by the Chef to satisfy the request of a long time diner, has become a best seller. Another favorite starter is the prep intensive Crispy Suckling Pig adorned with Fried Quail Egg, Parmesan Polenta, Maple Vinaigrette and Honey-Glazed Pearl Onion. There is a nice Raw Bar selection featuring Shrimp, Oysters and Clams. The Lakehouse Vegetable Salad; Creamed Chanterelles, Grilled Asparagus, Baby Arugula, Soft Poached Organic Egg, Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese is a great example of prowess in the kitchen. Notable entrees include a Parmesan Crusted Cod featuring  Littleneck Clams, Chorizo, SautÈed Calamari and Piquillo Pepper. Another popular and delicious selection is The Roasted Berkshire Pork Chop prepared with Green Apple, Yam, Blue Cheese and Caramelized Onion Gratin, Maple-Bacon Vinaigrette and Cranberry Mostarda. Be sure to save room for dessert, Choosing between the Chocolate Souffle, the Pistachio Baked Alaska and Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee creates quite a dilemma.    The Lakehouse has variety of rooms able to accommodate parties and events of all sizes. There is an extensive wine list.  The Taproom is a bar with its own menu featuring a more casual fare and a large selection of specialty Cocktails and beers.
