Lisa and Robby Mercado have both worked in the restaurant industry since they were teenagers. They met a few years after Robbyís parents opened Red Lion Pub in Boynton Beach in 1983. After his parents retired, Robby and Lisa took over ownership of the restaurant and ran Red Lion Pub until they sold it in 2008. In 2009, they established their own restaurant, The Living Room. Shortly after The Living Room opened, they expanded to The Pub right next door. They are two different buildings but one business, one menu, and one kitchen; ìThe only difference is the way that they feel,î Lisa explained. The Mercadoís wanted to bring the comfort and charm that you would find in European pubs. Instead of just couches next to each other, each little area is distinctly its own. The Living Room is eclectic – you will find a little bit of everything. Lisa explained that a lot of the ornaments and trinkets in the restaurant have been given to them by customers when their loved ones passed away. ìItís definitely a community effort,î said Lisa. People love coming in, seeing their objects and reminiscing. The ëPear Flatbreadí is a customer favorite – the crust is specially made for The Living Room by a Mediterranean bakery. When ordered, the flatbread is topped with fresh seasonal pear and Danish Havarti and baked to perfection. The Living Room is known for their ìpub grubî, including the ëShepherd’s Pieí, ëScotch Eggsí, and ëHomemade Mac & Cheeseí. They have even won awards for their delicious ëPeanut Butter Pieí. The ëCannoli Chip & Dipí is another must-try dessert – hot crisp chocolate tortilla chips dusted with powdered sugar and served with a cold cannoli creme. The Living Room features live music every single night, and they have an outdoor fire pit where you can cook your own símores! Eat, drink, and be comfy!
