The Ragged Edge is Gettysburgís only coffee house, art gallery, eatery, and juice bar. It was opened in 2001 by Jacob Schindel. Jacob started his career in the restaurant industry at age 18 as bartender. He opened The Ragged Edge because he wanted to provide a relaxing place for locals and travelers to enjoy a good cup of coffee and a healthy meal. The Ragged Edge is in a building that was originally a house, giving it a homey and warm feel. The name comes from a house Jacobís family lived in that was called The Ragged Edge. Every coffee bean roasted at The Ragged Edge can be traced from tree to cup. They can tell you the story of the farmers and the conditions which the beans were harvested, so even though the coffee comes from all over the world, it feels local. All of the coffee is roasted fresh in the shop. Besides coffee, The Ragged Edge serves breakfast, lunch, smoothies, and fresh baked pastries. Their breakfast sandwiches are their best selling food items. They use fresh and healthy ingredients in all of their food. They also pride themselves on having a lot of great vegetarian options.Enjoy your coffee and meal in their garden or any of their three dining rooms. If you love the coffee, you are able to buy it to go by the pound, boxed, or in one of their burlap coffee bags. Their hours are Friday-Sunday 8 AM-2 PM. Go to their Facebook page for information on when you can see a poetry reading or event. Check out The Ragged Edge for great food and coffee with a story!
