Heather and Eric are the owners of Thunder and Buttons. The origin story of this restaurant and bar comes from a Colorado Springs adventurer from the late 1800s named Prairie Dog OíByrne. He domesticated two elk and named them Thunder and Buttons. A young entrepreneur who liked his story and opened up a saloon named after the elk. After a fire caused the original restaurant to close, Thunder and Buttons was reborn in 2004. When they saw that it was failing, Heather and Eric had a vision of how to make it better. They cleaned it up, hired an amazing staff, and updated the menu, and it is now thriving better than ever. The menu at Thunder and Buttons can be described as upscale bar food and ìAmerican fusion.î They have classic American bar food like burgers, sandwiches, and also everything from nachos to grilled salmon. A house favorite is the Schnitzel Sandwich, which is a pork cutlet with Monterrey jack cheese and a creamy horseradish sauce. Another best seller is the Buffalo Burger, which is topped with sauteed mushrooms, melted cheese, and crispy bacon. They also have daily specials which include a soup and up to five specialty dishes. They have a full bar and offer daily happy hour and drink specials.There is never a dull moment at Thunder and Buttons. They have pool tables, foosball, two outdoor decks, and an upstairs bar where they hold karaoke four days a week. They win ìBest Karaoke Bar in Colorado Springsî every year. Every Tuesday they hold ìGeeks Who Drink Triviaî where you can win prizes and free beer.
