Tramonti is an authentic Italian restaurant residing steps away from the beach in the beautiful Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz. It is run by Luca Viara, his partners Daniella and Beppe, with help from his wife, Dina Scoppettone. Tramonti is a town in Italy off the Amalfi Coast. It is near Naples, which is where pizza was first created. Beppe is from Tramonti, and brings many authentic recipes to the restaurant. The name also means sunset, which fits the tone of area, where you can catch a beautiful sunset by the beach. Luca has over 20 years of restaurant experience and served as an ambassador for Italian taste and cuisine. Dina helps in the restaurant, but is also busy with her jobs as a professor and a professional photographer. When Luca and his partners bought the space for Tramonti, it was a Mexican restaurant in need of serious remodeling. The three of them contributed greatly to the redesign of the building and put a lot of labor into getting it up and running. The atmosphere at Tramonti is casual and family friendly. It is a great place to come with kids or a large group. The menu at Tramonti contains authentic Italian cuisine with a focus on family recipes. They create homemade pastas and real Italian pizza. Their pizza is a family recipe of Beppeís. It is the most authentic pizza that can be found in the area, with simple, light dough, and fresh toppings. When possible, they use organic and locally sourced ingredients. For authenticity, some products are imported from Italy, like their extra virgin olive oil. Luca recommends starting your meal with one of their fresh salads. One of the most popular choices is the Santa Croce, which contains greens, kale, arugula, carrots, fennel, hazelnuts, parmigiano, feta, fresh lemon, and extra virgin oil dressing. A unique option is their Grigliatina salad, which is topped with vegetables made in their pizza oven. Their pasta is a must have. Luca suggests the Ravioli al Sugo di Noci, with housemade ricotta and spinach ravioli, in a creamy walnut sauce.Make sure to save room for dessert. Tramonti has amazing gelato and special desserts like Profiterol, a puff pastry with dark chocolate ganache. The restaurant also serves beer and wine. They have a selection of Italian wines and both local and Italian beers. Customers love the Pinot Grigio, because it pairs very well with the pizza.
