As the owner of Trine’s Cafe #6, Licha Montes is carrying on the the 40 year tradition of her family’s participation in the culinary industry. Lichaís mother, of Mexican heritage, began cooking in Texas hotels in the 1970s. Over the years Licha, her mother, her siblings and nephews have owned a bevy of restaurants. Licha opened Trine #6 in 2000 and she’s been able to weather several economic downturns. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she tells us all items in the restaurant are homemade – nothing comes out of a can. She also strives to use the freshest and highest quality meat and produce. She says customers notice and appreciate the attention to detail. Popular menu items include the Cocido De Res, a hearty soup with beef and fresh vegetables. The manudo, a well known remedy for hangovers, but delicious anytime, hang over or not is a must try. The Pozole is another popular soup. The very popular Chile Rellenos is a recipe passed down by the family for generations. Enchiladas and Burritos are also diner favorites. Breakfast features huevos rancheros and home made chorizo, machaca, and is served with rice and beans.
