Union Street has deep roots in Detroit going back to the 1920s when the restaurant was first established. Opening first as Arturoís, the name then changed to Mad Anthonyís and in 1986 changed once more to Union Street, which it is still known as today. The restaurant has great history and even operated during prohibition as a speakeasy. Today, Union Street is known for their delicious food and great drinks. The menu has a wide variety of different dishes ranging from seafood and steaks to salads and sandwiches. One of their signature dishes that has been on the menu for at least twenty years is the Dragon Eggs. It consists of three chicken breasts that are pounded flat and rolled into balls then stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese, battered, fried and tossed in Rasta sauce. It is served atop a Caesar salad with Mandarin oranges and bleu cheese dressing. The Rasta sauce is extremely hot, so for those who donít handle heat well it is recommended to ask for it on the side. Union Street also offers a full bar stocked with a great selection of different drinks. Their beers on draft change weekly so customers always have something new to try. On Tuesdays Union Street offers $2 draft beers and on Wednesdays 1/2 price bottles of wine. They also feature draft beer and wine flights where customers receive samples of different styles to try. There is something for everyone at Union Street. They are known for their eclectic clientele. People can come in wearing suits and dresses or be as casual as wearing a t-shirt and sandals.
