The original Veggie Castle restaurant was located in a building that once housed a White Castle hamburger franchise. Cindy tells us her father, Viburt Bernard, started his vegan restaurant in the space. He felt it was appropriate to name it Veggie Castle. The vegetables conquered the hamburger castle and now reign supreme. The original location closed but the name and restaurant thrive at 13209 Liberty Avenue in Jamaica, New York.
